What can I do with an CAA GVC?

The GVC certificate allows you to:

Ensure your drone operations run safely, smoothly and in-line with Civil Aviation Authority guidance.

Satisfy the requirements for VLOS operations, this training is essential for commercial drone flight.

How do i achieve this?

Spread across three days, we’ll guide you through the creation of your own operations manual, ready to submit to the CAA, as well as theoretical training and examination to help you achieve your GVC license.

No, not at all, in fact if you do not own a drone you can come and try out our fleet of drones first. We have quite a range of both multi-rotor and fixed wing drones. Also, you can discuss what your business needs are and our expert instructors can give you the best advice on which drone to invest in. If you have a drone then you are more than welcome to bring this along with you.

The main part of the course is geared around learning the mandated CAA syllabus but you will be taught by an instructor who has been in the business and can offer their advice on where to start. Your instructor is also on hand in the evenings as they always stay over at the venue in case you have any further questions. If you stay over the instructor and other students normally dine together which is a nice way to unwind in the evening.here.

»What is in the flight assessment? Click for more

We will aim to demonstrate this on the course (subject to weather) and also teach you how to fly safely and competently. The flight assessment is not solely about your flying skills but also assesses your situational awareness of the environment you are operating in and all the associated paperwork. All this is taught on the course and a practical demonstration given on what needs to be completed prior to getting to site, on-site and the risk assessment which is fundamental to safe operating.

»Do I need to renew my 'licence' every so often and what's involved? Click for more

Yes there is a requirement to renew your Operational Authorisation every 12 months. You will not need to sit any exams or flight assessments but will need to resubmit your Operations Manual and a flight log showing at least 2 hours of flying in the last 3 months.

The fundamental aim of the course is to get you through the theory subjects but where we can we will go outside and reinforce the lessons with some practical sessions. We will also show you some tips for safe flying and what is in the flight assessment.

»How do I apply to the Civil Aviation Authority?Click for more

This is now an online process but don't worry as we will help you through this with a full guidance document to follow and our helpline of course. You will be expected to submit 2 documents when you apply to the CAA, Your Operations Manual and the GVC Certificate issued by us to say you have completed the exam and flight assessment to a satisfactory standard.
